SPOILERS: Review: Justice League 3000 #1 - Lyesmith

Writers: Keith Giffen, J. M. DeMatteis Artist: Howard Porter Happy Mid-Week Mini-Christmas, everybody! Today we'll be reviewing Justice League 3000 #1. This comic has been hinted at and advertised here and there for weeks. We've seen this gimmick before with the DC 1-Million line, amongst others. A futuristic twist on the Justice League meant to boost sales and maybe make a few collectibles out of the new and different costumes. I'll admit it, I bought a few of the 1-Million issues that tied in with the current comics I was collecting at the time. And while the vast majority of those comics were iffy at best (Don't get me started on Kyle Rayner's story line. Grrroooaaaaan. More "Kyle is soooo special!") there were issues, or more appropriately, parts of issues, that were at least amusing. Robin The Toy Wonder , android version of Batman's side kick was pretty funny. I read the hell out of the Young Justice 1 Million. But I digress. ...

SPOILERS: Flash Annual #2 review - Lyesmith

SPOILERS. IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THIS ISSUE, I'M ABOUT TO RUIN IT FOR YOU. I've never been a huge Flash fan. I like the character fine, but mostly in a team setting. He's perfect in the Justice League, but his own book just never really appealed to me. But the cover grabbed me. I'm a huge GL fan and I've always enjoyed Hal and Barry's friendship. This story is exactly what I needed to read. So much in the DC (and Marvel, but that's another post) is huge, epic, world-ending, life-or-death of everything as we know it stuff. And it's getting a bit tiresome. Big story arcs are great, but I need a break in between. And this is exactly what I needed. Barry meets Hal for drinks as buddies, not as heroes. They're goofing off before Hal has to go back to running Oa. They end up getting teleported to another planet where they're forced to fight in a gladiator arena. Apparently, as shown in a flash back, this is all part of the adventure they had when they...

GL is Gay. My 2cents.

As many have heard by now, DC Comics has made a move they claimed to be bold and a huge change. They made GL gay. Not Hal Jordan. They turned the alternate universe Green Lantern, Alan Scott, gay. Cheap move. All hype, no substance. It made me sick. Not only that, but it opens huge plot holes. If Alan Scott is gay, where did Jade and Obsidian come from? This was a gimmick just to jump on the publicity of Obama supporting gay marriage. Gay for the sale of being gay is OFFENSIVE. Make it believable. Make it make sense. Make it MEAN something. If I were going to turn any DC character gay, it WOULD be a GL. But not Alan Scott. Here's my opinion. I want to say, first and foremost, this is NOT a bash on homosexuals. I fully support the freedom to choose whom you love, have sex with, and marry. I have gay friends. I have gay family members. The first date my wife and I went on was to a drag show to support a friend of mine who was performing. Secondly, but I feel in context of this forum ...
