This comic has been hinted at and advertised here and there for weeks. We've seen this gimmick before with the DC 1-Million line, amongst others. A futuristic twist on the Justice League meant to boost sales and maybe make a few collectibles out of the new and different costumes. I'll admit it, I bought a few of the 1-Million issues that tied in with the current comics I was collecting at the time. And while the vast majority of those comics were iffy at best (Don't get me started on Kyle Rayner's story line. Grrroooaaaaan. More "Kyle is soooo special!") there were issues, or more appropriately, parts of issues, that were at least amusing. Robin The Toy Wonder , android version of Batman's side kick was pretty funny. I read the hell out of the Young Justice 1 Million. But I digress. ...

Written and Drawn by Andy Kubert What an odd read. Of all the ways I expected them to handle this book, this isn't one of them. Now, I haven't read much press about it, so I'm not sure what they're exactly trying to do here. But it's not bringing Damian back to the mainstream DCU. This is a continuity all its own. Andy Kuberts art is astounding; I didn't realize how long it'd been since I read anything by him. His X-Men stuff is what sticks in my head the most when I think of X-Men books from my childhood. The book starts off with Batman and Damian working a crime scene. Dozens of bodies and fish piled into a heap; dead. Batman instructs Damian to search for clues, and Damian, narrating, goes on and on about the stench, and how revolted he is by the rotting smell. Happy Mid-Week-Mini-Christmas Geeks! It's that time again! Comic Book Wednesday! Today I'll do a couple of each DC and Marvel. This is pretty exciting for me, as it's VILLAINS MONTH! A month where the titles stop their regularly scheduled programing to give you an issue focused on a villain related to the title. Is it a gimmick? Hell yes. And I love a good gimmick! First up we've got Justice League Dark #23.1 - The Creeper! I'm super-excited about this one because The Creeper has always been one of my favorite DC characters and I really don't think he gets enough page-time. He's a great character that I think deserves more love and attention. The origins of the Pre-52 Creeper were originally linked to the Joker and his serum; though that was later retconned. And now they're styling him after a Oni Demon was Japanese myth. This is an origin story set up for The Creeper and if things go they way I hope they do we'll be seeing a lot more of our eerie fr...

And while the list of comics I say that about is a lengthy one, it's no less true about this book. I'm terribly sad to see it go, as issue 23 is it's last issue. Demon Knights feature a group of characters like none of the other DC titles have. Or Marvel, for that matter. Reminiscent of the Prince Valiant comic strips I used to read in the Sunday paper (The Funnies, my grandpa called them) as a kid; it's medieval fantasy at it's best.
